What is Cloud Storage?
Cloud storage is a global network of servers acting as one large and remote hard drive. In simpler terms, it is an internet-based ‘locker’ where you can save and access all your files, such as photos, videos and documents. The cloud can be accessed from any device that has internet connection, including a computer, smartphone, laptop and tablet. Popular examples of cloud storage services include Google Drive, iCloud and OneDrive
We use Microsoft OneDrive to deliver our service
You can use your existing service
The elegance of our service is that we use what you already have, maximising the value of your investment.
We can help you set it up
If you don’t have an existing Microsoft OneDrive or 365 account, we can help you set one up.
Our service works with any computer running either Windows 10, macOS Catalina/Big Sur.
We create a new My Digital Legacy folder on your computer. You store all your digital legacy content here. You can store your private content anywhere else. If you don’t have any private content, it’s even easier. It will look something like this on a Windows PC:
You can choose what your Digital Legacy folder is called and can change its name at any time.
You then share a password-protected, read-only link with us. Luckily, you don’t need to remember this link. That’s our job. We keep it safe, secure and secret until it’s needed. Remember, we won’t have the password so we won’t be able to see your stuff.
It’s safe, secure and secret
Your Digital Legacy link has a password which we won’t have. This means that nobody can read or look at your content. Of course, you need to keep the password somewhere safe. Maybe add it to your will or share it with your executor?
Making sure it’s working
We really hope that we’re building a long-term relationship. Like all relationships, ours will need a little TLC, so every month we will check in, test that the link is still working and drop you an email to let you know that all is well.
You can also call us at any time if you would like us to check that you are storing your files in the right place.
Microsoft OneDrive is the only cloud-storage solution that offers password-protection. We have asked Apple and Google to add a password-protected sharing facility as soon as possible.
